A Free Yellowstone Mini Study
One of my favorite things about homeschooling is the freedom to follow our curiosity wherever it leads.
Sometimes that looks like studying birds in our backyard. Other times it means diving deep into a fascinating place like Yellowstone National Park and letting one topic lead naturally into geography, science, nature study, poetry, copywork, and meaningful family conversations.
That’s exactly why I created this free Yellowstone Mini Study.
As homeschool parents, we’re often looking for resources that do more than simply present facts. We want our children to wonder. To observe. To make connections. To develop a genuine appreciation for the world around them.
Yellowstone is the perfect place to do just that.
When children learn about Yellowstone, they aren’t simply learning about a national park. They’re discovering erupting geysers, colorful hot springs, roaming bison, mountain ecosystems, volcanic activity, and some of the most incredible wildlife found anywhere in North America.
And the learning naturally spills over into so many different subjects.
As we studied Yellowstone in our own homeschool, we found ourselves pulling out maps and tracing where the park is located. We talked about geology and what causes Old Faithful to erupt. We read poetry inspired by nature. We practiced handwriting through copywork. We sketched wildlife and discussed the importance of conservation and stewardship.
That Charlotte Mason-style feast of ideas is exactly what inspired this resource.

Just One Piece of a Bigger Adventure

This free study comes directly from our National Parks Workbook, which explores 12 of America’s most beloved national parks through the lens of nature study, geography, geology, poetry, copywork, journaling, and observation.
Each park is designed to help children slow down and truly engage with the landscapes, wildlife, and natural wonders that make our country so remarkable.
Inside the full workbook, you’ll also visit:
Yellowstone
Grand Teton
Glacier
Rocky Mountain
Zion
Grand Canyon
Yosemite
Redwood
Great Smoky Mountains
Acadia

Hawaiʻi Volcanoes
My goal isn’t ever to create a workbook filled with busy work. Instead, I always aim to create something that encourages families to learn together, ask questions, spend time outdoors, and cultivate a sense of wonder about God’s creation.
